| A typical application of xCS.web is publishing product assortments electronically to the internet or CDs. In addition to simply finding and displaying products or articles, information such as prices can also play an important role. xCS.web can therefore display the standard prices and if required can also show customer specific prices. Additionally data such as article and order codes can differ per customer or group.. |
| |
| With xCS.web there is also the possibility to place orders via the internet. A user can select products and place them in a 'basket' at which point these products can be added to an existing order. The order can then be sent via e-mail, but it could also be processed automatically using a direct or indirect link with an administrative system or separate order database. |
| |
| Once setup, the maintenance of the site takes place completely in the central database. There is therefore no more dependency on third parties such as an advertising bureau or a web designer. |
| |
| xCS.web is built upon a number of modules. Once the basic functionality is completed a number of additional features can be added over time. Examples of commonly used features are advertisement banners with changing advertising messages or adding additional languages to the website or CD-Rom. |
| |
In order to display the data, xCS.web makes use of HTML and XML templates wherein all the layout details such as house style and the placing of the information and images is defined. These templates are used for both the website and CD-Rom and need therefore only to be setup once. |
| |
| xCS.web can be combined with any database. The optimum configuration is when it is used in combination with the xCS.content product information management database. With the xCS.content / xCS.web combination you are able to publish data automatically the a website, and of course to paper and CD-Roms. | |
